I had spoken to a housing coordinator regarding homelessness on Waianae Coast on March 15, 2009. The coordinator had stated that homelessness has increased and funds to provide mental health services depended upon monies from their respective department. I was hard on both him and Karen Awana regarding "trust issues" with any government agency. I wouldn't be able to trust the City & County of Honolulu or State of Hawaii for any services. The coordinator had stated that many bills concerning Native Hawaiians are "knocked down" by her. Can anyone provide information if their is any truth to this statement. I don't live in her district and find it appalling that she does this to our po'e. Another point to make, if and when she decides to run for governor, is this the kind of person you want to represent YOU?

  • i don't know her personally, but my ohana resides in nanakuli. so if she doing dat she best bettah stop. Her first loyalty should be to us the kanaka hawaii. that goes for any one else too. we kanakaz should and always be first.
  • She is an American and is an American representative and is Ho'ohiki to their interests. Hawaiian interests I believe have been force into the Kingdom construct whether we like it [we like it] or not. I spoke with her at the Supreme court and she refuses to have any kind of relationship with the Hawaiian Kingdom. So I do not say she is unsympathetic to Hawaiians or wishes them any ill, I just point out her first loyalty is to the State of Hawaii best interests.
