Wilfred Antone “Po’onui” Lopes, Sr.
Wilfred Antone "Po'onui" Lopes Sr., went home to Heaven on March 22, 2021, in his home surrounded by his family. Wilfred met the love of his life, his wife Leina'ala while surfing at Depot Beach, Nanakuli. His legacy lives on in each of us as we play the music he taught, surf the breaks he surfed, hunt the mountains he climbed, and share the stories he told. But most importantly by the faith and love his mother instilled in him for our Lord Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife Carol Leina'ala Moses Lopes; sons David, Wilfred Jr., Clifford, Ronald, Darren; hanai sons Ronald Glushenko and Vincent Brown. Daughters Agnes Wahine'aukai, Carolyn and Cindy Keona. 24 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 10 great- great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents William and Stella Lopes; brothers Phillip, Daniel, William Jr., Joseph, David, Clifford; sisters Stella, Helen, Dolly, Francis, Muriel, Angeline, Maydell. Celebration of life to be held on April 11 from 2-5pm at New Hope O'ahu, 290 Sand Island Access Rd. Burial to follow on April 12 at 1130am, at Ka'ahumanu Society Cemetery Kapalama and Alani St., Honolulu.

Queen Liliuokalani's True Trustee has passed...
Remembering one of Queen Liliuokalani's Family members Wilfred Lopes, one of the True Trustees of Queen Liliuokalani.
In 1872, Kaeha who was also known as Kamakaeha/Makaeha/Lydia/Liliuokalani/Queen Liliuokalani formed her trust and assigned one of her hanai/adopted daughter Kahakuhaakoi/Kahakukuakoi/ Kekua/Kekualoa/ Kaaumoana and her husband Keo/George/George Sylva/Silveira/ Kealohapauole to be her Trustee.
The children of their body was to continue the Trust after they died.
Their son was Keku/John Keku/John Kailikole and daughter was Kuahine/Mary Kuahine/Mary Silveira.
Keku/John Keku/John Kailikole's descendant was Uncle Wilfred/Cousin Wilfred/Family member/ Ohana member.
In 1909, a Fraud Trust was created by the usurpers including William O. Smith who helped to set up the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estates in 1884.
Note: In 1893 - William O. Smith, and others helped to dethrone Queen Liliuokalani.
In 2013 - February 22. We came together as the true Trustees of Queen Liliuokalani.
Wilfred Lopes maintained his position as one of true Trustees of Queen Liliuokalani based on research found, etc.
Regular meetings were held with Wilfred Lopes and his wife Lei present.
Our last meeting was two (2) weeks before he died.
He is missed by all members of Queen Liliuokalani's Family and konohiki.
May he rest in peace.
He was a good man with a good heart. Was good to have known him too....a cousin, a friend...
His last words as we were leaving his home was "...am I going to see you again?" and I replied "yes!" and in my mind the answer continued "if not here, then later in spirit".
