Aloha,
We are excited to announce that applications are now available and being accepted for the 2009 Pacific Internship Programs for Exploring Science (PIPES), which includes the:
- University of Hawaii Hawaiian Internship Program (UH-HIP),
- Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU), and
- Micronesian and America Samoan Student Internship Program (MASSIP)
The application deadline is February 13th, 2009 (applications are available on our website at http://www.uhh.hawaii.edu/uhintern ) and we are asking for your assistance in forwarding this information to any students and colleagues or persons who may work with, or know, students who might be interested in taking advantage of these great opportunities. We have attached a flyer if you are interested in posting it around your office, department or school- and most importantly to share with your students.
As many of you already now, these programs offer undergraduate students internships that focus on environmental issues, ranging from scientific research to resource management to environmental education. PIPES is a collaborative effort made possible by partnerships with university faculty, government agencies, private businesses, and non-profit organizations.
Through these programs, students gain valuable mentored hands-on experiences in which they gain further insight into Hawaii’s environmental challenges. We are looking forward to another successful summer!
