This is another assault on the Hawaiian people, its culture, and heritage. The military lied. I know for a fact that the previous native Hawaiian cultural monitors spoke to the military after they discovered the heiau and I was also there at a testimony when they mentioned that and discovering DU spent arsenal in the area. I think this is why the militaqry replaced them.
I think those Hawaiian organizations are sell-outs to believe the military wants to improve their relations with us. Now look; they are back-paddling and pretending they didn't know this heiau didn't exist nor that there were burials there. The military were told about it!
It must be the military rotation that they have new ones come in totally clueless of what transpired previously. I hope that ulu tree they planted to symbolize their compact with native Hawaiians shrivlel up and die as ththe credibilty of the military has done and those Hawaiian organizations were duped into believing. Thank God they didn't represent most of the Hawaiians. I can't wait for the U.S. to de-occupy our country; the sooner - the better!
This was sent to me:
The Army Garrison Hawaii put out a press release very quickly when " human remains" were discovered. It is really something how their Public Relations people state on the media release subject line " Army Protects Discovery at Schofield." They use the word "protect" like they are helping us. Construction activitiy should never have taken place in the first place.

Army Stryker construction disturbs Native Hawaiian burials in Schofield
May 18, 2010 by kyle
Stryker brigade expansion project disturbed Native Hawaiian Burials (iwi kupuna) in the Lihu’e / Schofield Barracks area. Community groups told the Army that the entire area was culturally significant and needed to be protected from military activity. Native Hawaiian cultural monitors rediscovered the Hale’au’au Heiau that the Army had listed as destroyed. This put a cramp on their plans for the Stryker expansion. As as result the cultural monitors were removed from the project. Now new cultural monitors have identified the bones of iwi kupuna. The Army must stop the Stryker project. It is a corrupt, destructive and wasteful project that is driven by political motives to entrench the Army in Hawai’i. Strykers Out of Hawai’i!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Army Protects Discovery at Schofield
SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii – Army-contracted archaeological and cultural monitors discovered suspected human remains on a Schofield Barracks construction site, Friday, while supervising a routine ground excavation.
Army archaeologists and cultural resource specialists were immediately dispatched to the site to make an initial determination as to whether the remains were likely human. Dr. James Pokines, forensic anthropologist with the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command, confirmed on Saturday that the remains were indeed human.
Protective fencing has been erected in the area, and all construction activities at the site have been halted until further notice.
Procedures in the form of an "Inadvertent Discovery Plan" were in place and put into action, with site identification, protection and notifications to the Hawaii State Historic Preservation Office (HSHP) and the Oahu Burial Council (OBC).
"Anytime there is construction taking place and in which digging occurs, there is always a possibility that one could encounter an unexpected find," said Laurie Lucking, Cultural Resource manager for U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii. "It is for this reason that we have contingency plans and procedures in place so that finds like this can be treated with the utmost dignity and respect."
The Army will continue to work closely with the necessary state and federal agencies, to ensure compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act in order to protect and preserve Hawaii’s rich historical and cultural heritage.

Unfortunately like one of my former classmates who shall remain nameless said... there are some people who are preaching peace instead of on doing the right thing and are trying to get in the way of those who want the Army OUT. These pseudo-"negotiators" act as though they speak for us. They do NOT speak for me! "Army get out of Makua!" "Get the Strykers which are COMBAT VEHICLES off the sacred land!!!" Pau!!! No negotiating that.
Some of the "negotiators" KNOW the history and know that there are bones yet negotiated with some people who are not trustworthy. They don't want the U.S. to deoccupy that is why. We DESERVE truth and honesty... not their lies and deceipt.
Also don't forget the Chain of Command. The Commander in Chief is President Obama. Their boss is President Obama. IMHO Hawaiians who voted in American elections should not have voted for him. Leadership comes from the top DOWN and he is allowing this to happen. Aue!!!
E malama pono!
LOL.... I loved your comment. For the U.S. Presidenct, I would have liked Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul, but they were shut out of the process. I voted for Cynthia McKinney who I thought would be the lesser of two evils and to throw my monkey-wrench in their process. I figure, if they let me vote in their elections, why not?
I told everyone I could that Democrat or Republican means status quo; no change. Things were too transparent and the list of whom he relied on were the worst of the perpetrators. Both parties work for the same bosses. Oy Veh!

Much Mahalo for your posting.
I went to 76 station (park in front on the beach side) at 5:30 PM. Lot's of people there tonight, it was hot dog night. On Friday at 5:00 pm, there will be a meeting just before guardrails under the coconut trees. The city intend to destroy more people..as in killing. According to the housless, the neighborhood board postponed the eviction until August. Like they care....Much love
That and the diverting of water because they are trying to kill us by any means necessary.
