As I continue to conduct scholarly research, I came across this poem which will be in my dissertation. I'm sure that you will share your mana'o as I found this to correlate to how our KUPUNA was treated similar to what Native Americans experienced.
Spread the word of your religions
Convert the whole world if you can
Kill and slaughter those who oppose you
It's worth it if you save on man
Take the land to build your churches
A sin to tax the house of God
Take the child while he is supple
Spoil the mind and spare the rod
Go and tell the savage nation
That he must be Christianized
Tell him, and his heathen worship
And you will make him civilized
Shove your gospel, force your values
Down its throat until it's raw
And after he is crippled
Turn your back and lock the door
Missionaries, Missionaries go and leave us alone
Take your white God to your white man
We've a God of our own
(Cited in Lobo & Talbert, p. 266)
This is applicable in all aspects of our lives!
Please share your mana'o on this poem!
