Tuesday, January 5, 2010 Honolulu Advertiser OHA to make case for Akaka bill during live television broadcasts Advertiser Staff The Office of Hawaiian Affairs will present two live television broadcasts — the first on Thursday — to provide information on the Akaka bill, the agency said today. The broadcasts will be carried by KITV at 8 p.m. Thursday and 7 p.m. Jan. 14. The Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act of 2008 "is a complicated bill," OHA chief executive officer Clyde Namuo said in a statement. "We want to help both Hawaiians and non-Hawaiians alike understand what this bill means, answer people's questions, and help prepare for what we believe will be successful passage of this landmark legislation." The first broadcast will include panelists professor Lilikala Kameeleihiwa of the University of Hawaii-Manoa's Kamakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies; Michael Kahikina, legislative chair with the Sovereign Council of Hawaiian Homelands Assembly; Robin Danner, chief executive officer of the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement; and Bruss Keppeler, a member of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs. The second broadcast will cover the legal implications of the bill, OHA said. For more information, go to: www.OHA.org

  • ALOHA Kakou, e Ke Aupuni Moi O Hawaii, The AKaKa BILL is just as Illegal as the "Joint Resolution of Annexating The Hawaiian Islands." In that that the AKaKa BILL is in violation of the Constitution of the United States. The Hawaiian Kingdom was not a Tribal nation as the Indian Tribal nations. The only way lawfully that the United States can recognize Native Hawaiians is as a Foreign nation. A Foreign nation where our Kanaka Maoli people along with other people not of our blood were a Nation among the nations of the world. Queen Liliuoklani was not only the Queen of our Kanaka Maoli people but she was Queen of all of the people of the Hawaiian Kingdom nation.

  • Where's the questions on OHA the website that they said there were going to post and answer????
  • After listening to the broadcast, I came to these conclusions:

One hour wasted! That Kahikina is retarded; it must be from all the military toxins and DU put into Makua and drifted into the Hawaiian Homestead lands. He was the worst on the panel to express himself. Danner did her best to kiss up to the governments position of dealing with the native Americans; she married one. Talking about historic wrongs but it has gotten better; Somehow the Cobell case was conveniently omited and the arrests of elders doing their ghost dance, etc. Things sure has gotten better for the 500 some odd tribes. Her ass! She neglected to mention the tribes that Congress UNRECOGNIZED after reconizing them. You gotta love Lilikala; she did say it was for the money to fund educational programs. Bruss was pragmatic and stated the situation as it is; the U.S. holds the cards and its their game and their rules.

All in all, it accomplished nothing but begging to support such an asinine self-contradictory Bill. No one in their right mind would support it after listening to this panel whether kanaka maoli or not.

Questions were well screened and one or two meant to be hard questions; but failed miserably in the attempt. All this scurrying around with vacuous talk came across as milktoast and boring. It was a pitiful presentation that didn't move the Bill either way. It was obviously stack by the pro-Akaka and OHA missed its objective..

Only about three questions were aired. The hard questions and oppositions will be eliminated as they cannot answer those question without destroying the bill. I'm not holding my breath about it. I, sure there were a hundred or more questions; more than they can put up on their website to respond to. They coud consolidate the questions in a non-generic way and eliminate the comments. This way they can slide past the anti-A Kaka Bill. We'll be ignored as usual; the voice of the native Hawaiians will not be heard once again.

    Ho-Hum!

"So now I have to make a decision. Step into a billion dollars and denounce my people, or step into poverty and teach them the truth. Damn the money. Damn the heavyweight championship. Damn the white people. Damn everything. I will die before I sell out my people for the white man's money"
    • e Kamatose, Many of our people sell out our people for their "Blood Quantum."

  • Information Technology is one of the best and most leading technologies in this modern world. There are numerous high quality and useful ways to get high level posts in any well-recognized organization of IT. In order to get a good post in Information Technology, you must have detailed knowledge and experience about different topics like website design. I really appreciate the best and amazing efforts like that. Well done..
  • Amelia be strong!

The Akaka Bill as I am reading it is a natalist sustainable plan for the native Hawaiians with 50% plus bloodquantum. I believe Tane is correct we are removing the nationals in this process, so what is step two to be sure that Hawaiian Nationals are not removed?
