Aloha Ka Kou,
Attached (word doc.) is a Public Survey sought by the National Park Service seeking comments from community leaders and citizens relating to Hawaii’s historic preservation program issues, specifically Hawaii’s State Historic Preservation Division-SHPD.
As all of you are well aware of, kanaka maoli on each island have been entrenched in protecting our land, fresh water, ocean resources, cultural and spiritual practices, na kupuna iwi from desecration to extinction by exploitation, circumventing of existing laws and what is appearing to be an intentional disregard by private corporations and state government officials and agencies mandated to protect Hawaiian Culture. This is a an opportunity for our concerns to be expressed and hopefully heard and taken seriously by an authority superior to SHPD.
If I understand correctly, a portion of SHPD is federally funded and therefore mandated to protect and preserve Hawaiian Culture and property. As I witnessed first-hand on numerous occasions SHPD has failed us repeatedly.
Please take the time to fill out this survey and share it with your friends, family and group list/networks.
