This is the land law in Hawaii. Very inconvenient to the USA who basically outlawed allodial titles in order to steal land and charge taxes. After "STATEHOOD" I have heard many kanaka say tgey lost their family land to the State when the tax man came to the door with a State tax bill....giving the kanaka three choices: pay the tax immediately, go to jail for tax evasion, to sell the land to the state for the amount of tge tax bill...
