Saturday, October 17, 2009
Assemble at 3pm (march steps into the street at 3:30!)
Ala Moana Park near Atkinson entrance
(Look for blue earth flags)
The U.S.-led war in Afghanistan is in its 9th year and escalating...
The War on Iraq is continuing...
U.S. Drones Continue to Bomb Pakistan...
and the U.S. threatens to go to war against Iran!
Renditions and detentions are continuing...
Torture is still "legal" and continuing...
Guantanamo has not closed and Bagram Prison has expanded...
Congress is voting on a bill to prohibit the release of torture photos...
And Barack Obama just received the Nobel Peace Prize!
Join us on Saturday and break the silence. We'll be marching around Ala Moana Shopping Center and our voices will fill the mall - if you're there!
Read/view the following and ask yourself how you can be silent:
Watch "The Hidden Massacre" on the U.S.'s use of White Phosphorus. This is really a must-see! Excellent production and if this doesn't motivate you to speak out we don't know what will. White Phosphorus
Obama, the Nobel Price and What Peace Means, by Cindy Sheehan: Cindy Sheehan on the Nobel Peace Prize
30 GOP Senators Vote to Defend Gang Rape: Gang Rape. This was forwarded by Ann Wright, who will be involved in non-violent civil disobedience at the Times Square Recruiting Station in NYC beginning on October 13th. (One in three women in the military have reported they were raped while in the military!) Watch for coverage of the action!
National Lawyers Guild and 15 Other Human Rights Groups Call on Holder to Investigate and Prosecute Bush Regime War Criminals: Prosecute Bush Regime War Criminals
Check out some of the actions to protest the war in Afghanistan last week at: Actions.
