Keiki O Ka `Āina Family Learning Centers offers an accelerated learning program based on Hawaiian culture and values with a comprehensive introduction to the language. We believe in “Ma ka hana ka `ike.” (In the work/doing is the learning) We build on levels of difficulty and work with children to take them from concrete learning to abstract learning, thus they experience what they’re learning about and the curriculum becomes meaningful to them. It is a much more Hawaiian or indigenous way to learn. Every child is gifted in something and you can teach a child anything if you follow him/her and find what he/she is interested in. The key is, to discover their giftings and interests, and teach them through those gifts when they are ready.
It’s fun and it’s FREE! Childcare is available at no cost, while parents join trained educators to make exciting learning materials for their children. Classes meet one hour a week for 24 weeks. All books, curriculum, and supplies are included. It’s a great way to support your child’s education whether or not he/she attends preschool.
