Aloha `ohana,

Apologies for the late notice, but wanted to invite everyone to another stargazing event with Uncle Mike Lee this very early Saturday morning (kinda Friday night, into Sat. morning). The gang will be meeting at Nanakuli McDonald's at 2:30am and then heading up Lualualei to go look. I just saw that there is supposed to be a lunar eclipse from 2:45 - 4:30am that morning, it should be beautiful. Aunty Walterbea and some LCC-W students will be making pa`akai (salt) and lā`ī (ti leaf) packets for the group. If you would like to join us, please respond to this email (shelley@kahea.org) so we know how many people we should wait for at McDonald's. This event is limited to people 21 and over.

Also, a quick update on Bill 50 on the WSCP and the Purple Spot. So after the last super successful City Council Hearing in early November (read more here) the bill was supposed to go back to the Zoning and Planning Committee and then must come back to the full council for a final vote. It didn't appear on the Committee agenda, so it wasn't eligible to be on the full council agenda. That means the earliest it could appear in Committee would be January 12th, with the final full council vote some time after that. We should really use this extra time to talk up the issue with family and friends, download to print petitions here and take them to holiday parties! :) You can also download and print copies of the one-sheet flier that gives background on the purple spot issue at http://tiny.cc/purplespotinfo

Here's wishing you all a very happy holiday season, and perhaps, see you on Saturday morning.

A hui hou,

Shelley
