"Shit on a Shingle" is what I say behind the idea of not feeding the homeless. Both of my great-great-great...fed people. I don't know any different! The hierarchy doesn’t really know what they are talking about and are mucking up their system with people that have little or no experience with homelessness. To draw a line on a paper as oppose to going out to feed people standing in line are to different things. One is abstract painting (crayola) self thinking and the other is a collective action with heart. People sustain themselves by eating! Eating from a rubbish can is more romantic to the artist than imagining a boring line of people. And that is what this is blatant-- porn! People sitting and standing in a sanitized meeting room does just that 'mind fucking’? A center fold spreadsheet resulting in numbers of the homeless, numbers of columns and rows bottoms in and out, and worst yet 10% dead bodies perfume is a turn on. Anarchist theory suffices the Van Gough chaos or a home cook meal from a church kitchen or where families prepare their meals for their own selves. My friend needs waking up--don't wait to see a wall of names because for most part Hawaii's shame doesn’t exist. I am a long time advocate for homeless--thirtyplus years.
Eighty percent of the homeless return to normalcy and it is the 20% that is the focus here. In my many travels, I have made it my personal concern to check out their homelessness in different American metro cities: Skid Row in LA., ate lunch cooked by homeless in New Orleans, placed my shared meal in a wall hanging basket in Little Italy Boston, walked into many places on my travels that works with homeless. Reaching out across America was my means of training and self awareness for different 'ideals to follow-up with America's poverty in Hawaii.
I've experienced many types of enforcements, sterile minds, populace cruelty towards homelessness over the years. Post Vietnam, I too fell into homelessness with my two children--I was the lucky 80% for I lived in hippie camps--Taylor Camp being one. I had the life of a Leeteg black velvet painting and with these blessings--I approach our Waianae houseless sweeps with these blessed experience.
It seems to me we need to return to the Leeteg experience and gain trust that houseless people are sustainable in their own way. Having said that, I strongly believe the governor should be a believer in humanity and tap into the Leeteg spirit. Instead, I believe the governor (my friend) have surrounded himself with mean spirited American con-Artist looking for the next appropriations of blood money.

I stopped at diferent spots on my way home. Some people are still feeding houseless on Sundays and the houseless are very strong will. They are aware of what had happened about the no feeding houseless. Tomorrow I will check on their services if they asked and sought for it. And did they receive services. Most can't read so as far as employment that is plausible providing someone teaches them how to read.
Charity is somewhat because those of us that have given to others all our lives are also feeling the economic woes. The houseless understands! I still give some pocket change and do it almost daily.
I met some wonderful people and will return more often to check the 'haps' of the state.
Did not have a chance today to go and visit the Waianae Harbor where people are being fed today, I will and get back to you all. Hopefully, my friend will have strength to drive out here and I can join him in giving hope to the many houseless people in Waianae.
We also have other areas that food bank distribute, but I don't believe they are at the effect of the moritorium of not feeding the houselss.
What is a bit scary is the children that are still houseless or living in croweded homes with multifamilies as well as under bushes. These are the most vulnerable ones during the summer. Summer Fun is usually a place that children can be reached during the summer. I registered my grandson and will be there on site checking things out.
I believe the next attack if it has not happened yet will probably be free lunces, and senior citizens, although this is already a federal system, what most people don't get that when you are weak the connection between the vulnerable and the meal needs workers with heart. And often, in the fields we have faint hearts trying to do a job that takes a giant step. So those are the ones that I am looking for.
When I teach long term, I bring in my college icebox and fill it with Cheerios that have honey coated. Many of the children come in hungry and need to be fed something other than sweets before learning can happen. Ramen or saimin are the best for in the afternoon too. I usually keep this on hand. Most teachers have sweets in their classrooms and give it out as a reward for good behavior or answering the questions correctly. I have a difficult with this.

Interactional, Functional, and Conflict-theorist Viewpoints on Homelessness

"Conflict-theorists would most likely not consider homelessness, in itself, to be a problem whatsoever. They would cite capitalistic motives as being "the problem." A conflict theorist would claim that the reason the homeless problem persists is not because of a homeless individual's supposed inability (or reluctance) to advance oneself. Rather, the conflict theorist would posit that the cause of homelessness stems from the capitalistic social classes that oppress those who cannot find a place to work or a physical address to call home. Therefore, when the oppressors deny employment to those who need employment, the economic-underclass victims will either rise up demonstrably or consider taking a more silent route, the latter of which, for the homeless, results in maintaining an existence as nomadic "outcasts."
These three sociological perspectives provide but a mere sampling of how different types of sociologists would consider what is, to say the least, a troubling and complex social issue. However, suffice it to say, the above examples of interactional, functional, and conflict-theorist responses to homelessness represent a basic idea of how these three perspectives on sociological thought would address a problem that has proved to be a persistent and difficult matter to resolve.

I totally agree, however, that stupid thinking came from different American metro's which is why I am saying the things that I am saying.
I need to change the governor's thinking and like real soon and send those idiots that are 'fly shit' buzzing around in his office home to America. Or have that IHS director removed for she started the idea of not feeding the homeless three years ago. It was because her numbers were dropping. She organized a meeting with the people who feed the homeless and told them to support her wishes of not feeding the homeless, so that they would come to her institute. Those of us that have long standing, and deeper understanding of whats on the street understood her objective. Houseless people are super sensititve and for some people IHS brings tragedy to their lives when services they need are not rendered! Which was the reaosning for not feeding and that is to bring in people so that services can be given. Speaking from experience, services are not there most times, and if anything IHS and the like are an end game for about 20% of the houseless or where the need are the greatest. The other 80% which no one sees actually do well. One has to be on the streets to experience this phenomenon.
We can't use our houseless in Hawaii as pawns for appropriations in the governing entity. Not to mention all the academic appropriations too. The theory of not feeding the homeless came from the US of A, and the academic communities. Outlawing feeding the housless is just plain evil.
I choose my own friends those that know that when I disagree with them when its blatant wrong will listen. I trust that Nancy Caraway wrote about Waianae Women in her publication when no one else cared to know, or hear their voices.
Instead of focusing on people that hate the democratic party, I would rather reach beyond that defense line and speak my mind about the issues that I am passionately concern with. Feeding the housless is a frontline for me, although, I haven't been out their recently because my buddy got ill, I'm going to check the situation out during the summer

I called my friend while posting my response and because of the governor's 90 days, we are going back out on the streets. Hopefully, I pray on a weekly basis. The children that are homeless no longer have free lunch. So yes, we must be out there!
