June Takeko Shimokawa, 76, of Honolulu, a retired social worker and social activist, died. She was born in Kukaiau, Hawaii. She is survived by brother James and sisters Atsuko Hasegawa and Hideko Shimokawa. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Harris United Methodist Church. Services: 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to Hawaii People’s Fund or Harris United Methodist Church.

    I cannot remember June not being there on the defense line for Na Kanaka and their hopes and dreams.  May she wake up the sleeping dieties with her smile.  I will always remember her generousity--see you when I see you.
