In 1985, a group of houseless native Hawaiians took a stand for their right to live at Waimanalo Beach Park, an area set aside as Hawaiian Home Lands. The resulting police action and violent eviction is the subject of this video.

  • Purchasing this video is important, so that, one can understand what truly happened during that time.  I was there all night.  I helped to prepare the shack, it was our first attempt at building a traditional Kauhale.

Soli said,  "Keep Hawaiian lands in Hawaiian hands!" as he was being arrested!  Most of the people that did get arrested came back to their homeland from Kauai.  They was a DHHL and commission meeting over on Kauai and they went there to plead with DHHL.  The action that one see that follows is the results of what was the mind set of DHHL and OHA.
