Aloha, Freedom Fighters:

The last days of the Hawaii legislature are upon us and we have a great chance at passing human-trafficking laws this year! But, we need your help one last time.

The House has disagreed with the amendments we support for both bills on labor and promoting prostitution. So, this means that the bills now head to Conference where they may be gutted as what happened last year with our Human-Trafficking bill. When Conference is scheduled, no public testimony will be accepted. But, you can call the Judiciary Chairs and voice your support of the bills HB240 (Promoting Prostitution) and HB141 (Labor-Trafficking) MAKE A CALL BEFORE APRIL 27th 2011. Let your voice be heard on this.

Please call the House Judiciary Chair Rep. Gil Keith-Agaran, especially if you live in Maui (that's his district). Politely urge him to not substantively alter HB240 (promoting prostitution) and HB141 (labor-trafficking). He has been helpful in passing the human-trafficking bills through legislature.

PROMOTING PROSTITUTION BILL HB240: This bill HB240 was amended by the Senate to be a very good law that would combat sex-trafficking and end the demand as well a provide victims with protection and be easy to use to prosecute traffickers. What more could you ask for?

LABOR BILL HB141: The Senate amendments made were to clean up the language as per suggestion by the AG to align the bill with current law.  We support them!

Call Senator Hee and thank him for being so supportive to this cause and ask him to keep up the strong support of HB240 and HB141 and prevent their gutting in conference. Senator Hee has been a great supporter!

  • This is so real in Hawaii and slave breeders and traders still exist and we women need to stand together against this kind of  business in Hawaii.
