There are many people on the list that I have talked to over the years and I wish I knew them as Hale O na Alii O Hawaii. I cannot believe they have come and gone, and I had many an opportunities to ask questions, and also too, their children were my closes friends. I have lots of family too on the list which brings to "the reasons..why" they said and behaved the way they did and continue to do as we speak.
Did you watch Andre with Ehu speak to the horrors of Kawaiahao desecration of our Na Kupuna? That is basically how clear and motivated action should be taken to the preserving of our culture. Her na tutu is buried at Kawaiahao, and there is a beautiful picture in this booklet!
aloha kaohi,
why posting the name
My most concern is the accuracies of this posting. This is the last page. I will try to back track and see what I posted and try to complete this pamphlet on Maolioworld.
Many of the people on this listing was very brave to attempt to preserve their ancient culture practices at the early years of 1900. And too, to place their names on a publication that was very bold of them to share themselves.
This organization formation was right around the death of 'Liliu' and the formation of the Rehabilitation Act with a bloodquantum of 50% plus as oppose to the one-drop-rule. I couldn't resist this assertion...I believe the politics should be kept asunder at least until we hear from the descendants of these voices.
