JOIN PASS & GIRL FEST HAWAII AT THE “EMANCIPATION CELEBRATION”
IN RECOGNITION OF THE PASSAGE OF HAWAII’S 1ST ANTI HUMAN TRAFFICKING LEGISLATION

The Pacific Alliance to Stop Slavery (PASS) and Girl Fest Hawaii are hosting the “Emancipation Celebration” at The Venue at Bambu Two, located at 1144 Bethel Street, on Saturday, July 2nd 2011. Doors open at 6:30pm and the multimedia program runs until midnight. Suggested Donation Admissio...n is $10. Proceeds benefit PASS, a Hawaii-based 501(c)3, and its services to combat Human-Trafficking in Hawaii.

The Emancipation Celebration will include a statement made by a survivor of sex-trafficking; followed by performances by local favorite Simple Souls; Youth Speaks Hawaii poets Sterling Higa and Jocelyn Ng; Human-Rights-centered local band Black Square; and DJ Kee who will be spinning a mix of disco, 80s and hip-hop.

Earlier this year the Hawaii legislature passed HB141 relating to Labor-Trafficking and HB240 relating to Promoting Prostitution Law reform, which will combat important aggravating factors of sex-trafficking. The bills now await signing by Governor Abercrombie.

The effort to pass Hawaii’s first Human-Trafficking laws has been a 6-year battle which started with the anti-trafficking movement created by Girl Fest Hawaii in 2005. PASS collaborated with Girl Fest and took over the lead in this movement in 2009 and both organizations have worked together to successfully combat Human-Trafficking in Hawaii while serving survivors of these crimes against humanity.

PASS and Girl Fest Hawaii welcome all to celebrate the recognized policy shift to combat Human-Trafficking (for both labor and sex) on the local level, to protect victims, and to end the demand for prostitution/sex-trafficki

  • Women need to realize one need not be a victum in life!  And they are many psycho paths that we tend to care for--however fall short of knowing that these wacked out person(s) have no remorse for doing harm.  We need to understand the degrees of addiction and real human relationships.  Addiction is sick and need to be fed more and more thrills of disorder.  Where as a good relationship nurtures and take care of each other in times of good, bad, or ugly.  Are you taking care of each other?  Is it harmful and you don't know it?  Get help?
