The 'moku' of Koolaupoko was a mist and at one time not too long ago we went to Big Island (Moku of Keawe) and had a meeting of the minds with the Royal Order in Hilo to clear the air.  It was a bit challenging of wills, but if one is a leader --one goes.  The younger sibling of the island chain meeting with the older sibling was more of what I had observed.  Yes, there was mouthy outsiders with their input more like breaking up the tension was how I looked at it.

A place of origin got lost in the mist for some reason, so it was 2 to 3 days affair for all of us.  It was trying on our wills because we were all going home to our families and what else was troubling at home.  The younger sibling was propped up on stage and the older sibling was below with the elders we sat opposit of each other in two rows with our backs to the side walls.  Lots of protocol upon entry, and sitting positions was in specific to the hierarchy.  We had some heavies in that room.  Skippy, Soli, Bumpy, Kaliko etc.

Oahu leaders go come to nut cases, healthy people, sick, childen-older same like all other islands but with extra problems.  What usually transpire when we go home to our 'moku's' is the ahupuaa syndrom or smaller unit of systems begin to emerge such as family unit parts.  In my case, I would go back to my dad-mom as my center and work both sides of the family relationships until I reach the outer skits of the Hawaiian chain becaue I have family on all islands.

What's inclusive in my 'ancient' story is usually the battle of Kuamo'o, battle of Nu'uanu, the battles with Pa'ao and the battles of today (false information and betrayal).  Cyber space, is a place of wits and one need the use of tec. skills to get beyond the treacherous behavior.  And often times, as we learn from the meeting of the minds with the Royal Order of Keawe one just have to go home to your family and center.

As a person from Oahu, and a 'niaupio one cannot just simply pretend to work within family unit neither an ahupuaa that was the purpose of the meeting with the Royal Order.

Recently and on the practical side, my younger brother sibling said that we will only center and not reach out to the outer islands.  That was as of the day before yesterday, and I am very obedient within my family--thats what keeps us in unity and safe from disharmony.   Outsiders with cause ill actions and besides, they always have bad intents to be mean and hurtful towards family members usually young children.  Cyberspace is usually the battle grounds for these type of ills.  Yellow belly, ill souls, and sick minds lerk in chat rooms.  One has to watch not only the center, but the margins too that's what sets apart the younger siblings and the older generation.  One has to always be watchful and caring to the younger generations.

Teaching is constant and taking care of the contents so that my student audience can take away a tool is formost important.  Here in Waianae we have a 250 population of Micronesians in one location and they are from different islands.  A Veteren of the US Armed forces turned this place into an internment camp with rules--English is his first language.  Micronesians speak their own language and have their own culture practices.  They must be ten or more different island groups housed in this location.  I believe from what I heard from the women that they do not care to co-mingle as a unit.  I suspect it's a demand from their hierarchy. Besides, they speak their own language, and have very little English skills.  The US thinking--they are Micronesian therefore they are unified under one nation.  Disrespectfully,  there is an implosion going on at this location almost daily.  Politically it was the US Akaka 1998 change in congress that caused this mess. Sadly, too many children are involved in this diabolical military and highly politcally charged US recognition of Pacific Islanders that is impacting nihilistically these Micronesians.  The responsibilities lies within their choices of leaving their home and migrating away from their atolls.

We should learn and heed their problmes and refocus on our families as oppose to the outside world.  But, being me I have a difficult time doing this!

  • In the preparation of my dad's funeral, I was surprise to hear conversations of ancient, houseless, Micronesians, and things that people don't usually talk about.

Another rude awakening was the Obituaries and how misleading that could be in print as oppose to real narratives.  So, we need to be careful to not let 'crazies' like flies on shit into our lives and get near our children.
