Just jotting down some words to share with you all. Nanakuli has taken some nasty lickings which of course I am not at all surprise.
Growing up in Waimanalo in my family community which dates back from it's beginning of human habitation and continue to exist in the same ili, I understand Nanakuli and it's many problems they are facing.
I went through the contemporary changes as early as 8 years old. I grew to loath the existing of DHHL and Hawaiian Civic clubs. The Hawaiian male leaders were poor as jerks. And the Hawaiian women were either docile or beholding to what the white women said to do.
No voice and building landscapes for the white women and their living endeavors was all that I understood.
To see Nanakuli Hawaiian Homesteaders bending down on their knees under the hand of Native Hawaiian men is disheartening. And all of this at the point of the gun too!
