There is an emergency in Waianae that needs your help.  Two of the four state-certified Hawaiian principals have been fired in Waianae by a privatizing corporation, Ho'okako'o.  Please consider signing the following petition to demand justice be found for the community, for the keiki, for our leaders.  For more information see the Kamaile Academy News website.
If you will add your support to the Petition below, just send a reply with your name and email address.
My apologies if you receive multiple requests.

We, the undersigned, demand that all appropriate investigations bring justice to the community of Kamaile.
A non-profit (Ho'okako'o Corporation) fired two state-qualified principals (Glen Kila and Clarence DeLude) from Kamaile Academy, a conversion charter school (K-9).  The community voted unanimously to de-certify Ho'okako'o Corporation as its Interim School Board on November 16, 2010.  Approximately 1000 signed a petition of protest demanding the principals be restored.  The Local Area Panel (LAP) chair, William Souza, filed a five-part complaint with the (out-going) state Attorney General.  Ho'okako'o Corporation then terminated the entire LAP board, ignored its own termination by the community, hired a labor lawyer and a security firm, and has proceeded to run the school without a qualified principal.  It allegedly continues to use up educational funding to maintain its control of the school and the community through hiring or firing as reward or punishment.
Public property and funds have allegedly been misused.  State and federal laws have allegedly been violated.  Civil rights have allegedly been violated.  Education of more than 800 Native Hawaiian keiki has allegedly been disrupted, harmed and made untenable in a democratic society.  The example for both children and parents is one of complaint without redress.
The crisis at Kamaile Academy must be investigated to determine if any of these allegations have substance and need immediate resource.
We, the undersigned, demand that all appropriate investigations bring justice to the community of Kamaile.

  • Okay, still no Principal and Vp at this time over six months and students are still waiting.  Children's student achievment are slipping into the abyss, and still no end in sight.  On the ground level there is cover-up, play-play, and no real teaching going on.  Sadly, students and parents are responsible for their learning--not the present staff or teachers.  How insanely wild is that!

Dumming down our students is not new, infact, it's an old age syndrom and they just need to have the confidence that they can pursue a quality of life --should they choose to do so.  The problem that hangs in the balance of their choosing is the po'o's head has been systematically cut off!  In otherwords, too many people long time workers have been fired just for being born in Waianae.

Problem is we are just not news worthy!

  • this is old news but thanks for posting.  When I last spoke to both po'o's at Aunty Frenchy's funeral--it was said that the school needs to be shut down.  I so agree
