As the years go by, I see more and more efforts to provide Hawaiians with a voice in affairs that effect kanaka maoli's. There are so many groups, causes, focuses, efforts, etc., that it makes me wonder, is it possible to combine our efforts for the betterment of all? More over, does the "founding" of these individual groups, causes, focuses, efforts, etc. threaten to not bring us together, but to divide us further?

While it seems form the outside that most of these are focused in the political realm, I know that others are focused within the cultural aspects of our community.

I want to see if anyone else has had similar or opposing thoughts and have any views to share on the subject. This might be a discussion that has already taken place, but it doesn't hurt to have it again if that is the case or to start it if it has not taken place.

  • Aloha kawika,

Not sure if any of what I say makes sense to you or even answer your question. No one person or groupy have they time or energy to focus in a center at this time.

If you are looking for a group--do some search and join, if that group doesn't work for you move on to another search.

All things are not too simple now a days, we have to be on our toes, put the time in, get in our cars and hop from meeting to meeting.

Some of us have critical thinking skills, and some have media and social skills, and some want to look for career goals and receive a pay check from the woes of our people.

It all depends as to what are your goals for your participation, babysitting gets to be trying on Maoli world. So, having said that we need leaders not just followers. MaoliWorld are hard at work and if this does not meet your schedule maybe one should take a look at Facebook or something.

But, I invite you to rethink your needs and decide to contribute in such a way that it would work for all of us that are hard at work. Kaohi
  • Aloha no, Kawika. If you make the time to watch and be a participant on Hawai'i TV Live, you will soon discover very quickly why there is so many "Advocate Groups," out there. Our Sovereign today, much like our beloved Queen Lili'uokalani, is the only one that can restore our Hawaiian Kingdom fully. That is why we all in a sense have deviated from this one truth and one fact, that we are set up as a Constituional Monarchial Government. Whether we like that set-up or not is not the real core issue. The real core issue is "Is our people going to follow "The Rule Of Law," or are we going to continue to make "Assumptions," without having any documents or evidence to back up why they support what they support.

Hawai'i TV Live is broadcasted live everyday at 7:00am-9:00am, Hawai'i Standard Time, and 7:00pm-9:00pm, Hawai'i Standard Time on Ustream. Check me out at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/hawaii-tv.

    • Mahalo nui Kaleo for the information. Living in Minnesota, those times are not always conducive to viewing during my working and sleeping hours, but I am sure I will catch you at some point.

Hopefully someone does address this matter. I know that each group is unique and serves its own purpose, but with so many of them and so many thing, seemingly similar with them, going on at the same time, it can get confusing.
      • E Kawika
        Where in Minnesota are you?
