ALOHA Kakou, e Hawaii, After many years it was with Great Joy that I watched the Kamehameha Day Holiday return home to Iolani Palace. I come from a family who have participated for many years in the Kamehmeha Day Holiday.
This year I and family members continue our involvement in the Kamehameha Day Holiday.
A Holiday that goes back to the days of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
In the past my Aunty Pleiades(Colburn) was Queen of the Kamehameha Day Parade. During the 1970's I designed Award Winning Floats for the Kamehameha Day Parade. I also had the honor of drapping Leis on the Statue of Kamehmeha for the holiday.
At this year's holiday, I with Kekapukainohea stood on the street side with our HPACH Canopy and showed the National Flag of the Hawaiian Kingdom nation of Queen Liliuokalani. I was never so proud as I took the picture below of Kekapukainohea as he stood "Showing" the National Flag of the Hawaiian Kingdom when the American Military passed us. Picture below.
Kekapukainohea and I were there not to KUE but to Celebration Kamehameha Day as the National Holiday of our country, our nation, our Kingdom, our Hawaii. As there is a time to KUE and there is a time to Celebrate with honor our Ancestors.
Honor our Ancestors King Kamehameha and those who signed the Kue Petitions of 1897. Many of my family signed those Kue Petitions of 1897. Their names were on the "No Treaty of Annexation" Memorials that were placed on the grounds of Iolani Palace on June 12. I will add more of my family names to the "No Treaty of Annexation" Memorials in the future.
It is my hope that the Kamehameha Day Celebrations will continue to be held on the grounds of
Iolani Palace. That next year many more of our people will come to Iolani Palace to celebration in the Spirit of our Ancestors.
Long Live The Hawaiian Kingdom, o Pomaikaiokalani, Sovereign, HPACH
