Here's a list of commercial enterprises in Honolulu as referenced in January 1895. Many of the names in business will not surprise you but it goes to show how far back these families are identified in our Hawaiian History.
My post here is not to disrespect at any families but to bring awareness of the founding industries that happened in our past.

What's really interesting is how they tie to the people on the U.S. East Coast. Those names are like the bunny that keeps going and going. They are all inter-related and it's only from a handful of them. Many claim landing from the Mayflower. These elite invested their money and children throughout the U.S., Hawai'i, and the world. It's all from "old money". LOL... Auwe no ho'i e! Some Hawaiians can trace back to a few of these people.
yep old $$$$. I have met some of the branches of the not so fortunate old $$$$, they use their own kind with no money as slaves - at least this one said this. His tie is only history not the pocketbook. You can tell he is bitter about this but well we know that some of the ties struggle like every day people. I have met also ones that have disassociated themselves and have become mentally ill, I think that's just the curse they got from what they have done to native po'e of other countries and us of course.

Yeah... _____'s mom was married to ____ ____ who was previously married to ___ ____, sister to ___ ____ and ___ ____. They were half sisters to _______who was married to _____. And ____ was married to ___ ____ hanai'd __ ____, __ and ____ 's daughter. Then __ ____ died and ____ married ___ ____. Then that other one... but yeah Ho'okena ties :P
That male is not the elder one though. It is one of his sons who was considered a pride and joy and a promising up and coming person --- but later lost one of his sons who was driving with his wife as passenger from a party to their home. (They died together in that tragic car accident.) Years later his grandson from that son committed suicide... then another grandson from his other son committed suicide too. Very tragic.
