Hawaiian Philosophy vs. American Philosophy

Aloha Kakahiaka to all 3,803 Maoliworld Members, Before i send and post what i know to be the "causal root" to every single HEWA that has been going on throughout the Hawaiian Archapelego for over a century and a half now, comes down to these two philosophy's, (Hawaiian Philosophy vs. American Philosophy), which by the way is not only radically different, but creates an environment of conflict, hostility, displacement, oppression, depression, a sense of nobodiness, racism, abuse, confusion, insensitivity, uncomfortability, and a imbalance within society, nature, and the entire world and universe that is all around us. I am very curious to see what you all will share about this highly stimulating discussion about what Victor Hugo once said, "Where there is darkness, CRIMES will be committed, the GUILTY one is not merely he who COMMITS the crime, but he who CAUSES the DARKNESS." This topic of discussion can allow all of us to get to the "causal root" of the matter individually and collectively, as a Nation of a people, from Hawaii. So with that let us begin our discussion on the what, how, and the why of these two radically different philosophy's. Kaleo

What I care about is that the younger generation do not fall prey to the 'talk' often this is the case. It takes time to unravel the mess. I regret not taking Hawaiian classes at UH Manoa, instead, I was intrigued with Latin, Greek, and Roman language and their history. I was fortunate enough to have excellent professors, however, I did spend a great deal of time in the DU Hawaiian section at Hamilton Library in between classes. Unless one has a strong hand on: Virgil, Aeneid, Iliad, Plato, Socrates, the Republic, and most of all Machiavelli and others, it is not clear as to what these jokers are talking about, however, you do have a sense of their mana'o and it's 'talk'. It's wonderful to be young--enjoy life and just continue to be happy. Kaohi
    • aloha kaohi,

we not only have ALOHA but we are EDUCATED and on my mama death bed, she made me promise her to stop the olelo of the kanaka maoli and learn the western american system for one day i going to speak for our next generation to come. she said i was groomed from infancy with the proper knowledge of my kupuna kahiko's and believe me i just got out of college for 5 sollid years majoring in business technology and hotel management, making the "Deans List"
i will use all my knowledge from my professors to the full~ this is just one part of exposing the truth to our people and the other has already begun by facilitating my mo'okuauhua ohana meeting every 2nd and 4th week of each month.
i am also starting a business==NaHaVas (native hawaiian values) life skills workshop and i am beginning a project interveiwing all the true KUPUNAs that Akua sends to me. yes, thats why this topic is very vital to me personally, because i am a kupunahuntess and i was trained to look into the eyes of a kupuna and see if he/she is for real or not. because i can not see some of the faces on this forum, i use the sound of the words from each person and identify the common sence of how their behavior would represent a true kupuna. we have a lot of wanna be's and thats why we need to know the true makoi's so our next genarations are also taught the right (being PONO) way of our lifestyle as kanaka maoli's.
many more wonderful wisdom to you and yours for we are the leaders of our next 7 generations to come~da princess~
  • aloha kaohi,

mahalo for your mana'o and i hope kaleo humble his pu'uwai (heart) and hear the words of others as yourself.
i for one appreciate the wisdom from almost all, however when the mana'o of others interfere with the beliefs
of my kupuna kahiko (ancestor) and their conduct or actions conflict with their words, i will question their behavior
    and call them on it.

as for me personally, i can not see one red neck calling one other red neck a KUPUNA, especially if their mouths
hewa with their behavior, period.....and worst if one kanaka maoli disgrace, dishonors, and/or another kanaka maoli
intentionally, i say hewa to your kupuna's for they neva teach your right from wrong!!!

that's my mana'o on all of this darkness or "causal root" of evil
until we all meet in one understanding in unity
    mahalo Ke Akua

If one has an understanding of their history the complex web of cause and effect, probability and accident, life situations and its events are distinct.

The problems with this string, some people don’t have a history in Hawaii and are trying to attach themselves to our history. The 'how' question cannot be answered by outsiders, because they are all 'talk'.

This discussion was a continuation of Victor Hugo Satan, Et nox facta. As to why Kaleo went there, I have no idea. Thus, the light and darkness exist in our culture values, which is their problem to solve, which I doubt they ever will.

We planted and fished by the no/moonlight, so the darkness was very soothing to us, enriched with beauty and song. We have lived in the dark as well as by light; white people are just now learning the consciousness of dark. Guns (loose cannons) and black roses always rise in their minds, and they can never see the gleam of moonlight beaming on a rose because they don't live there. Such as 'Thou Sweet Rose of Maunawili’ from our Aloha Oe song, I believe when Liliu wrote this verse into her song, she taught us true presence. We are fortunate to always experience the essence of life through her words of wisdom.

Kaleo got greedy and tried to predict the market trend on Nationalism, purpose, to capitalize on the violence of nature or beast, I suppose. The neophyte’s baby ideas sprang from the ground like weeds, or ‘causal roots' as in Victor Hugo.

We will persevere through rhetorical nonsense an unjust national disease, and based on our pure history live in the 21st centaury. Kaohi
  • wow,

this is what i call straight up.
i was taught by my Kupuna Kahiko as the only child
    in a room filled with 8 to 12 Kupuna's
and i was told to listen to the wisdom of my kupuna's
i was giving a pencil and paper and at the end of the gathering
told to share my findings with all of them.
this was the same kine discussion that i had experienced
and after over 45yrs. i am experiencing this same kind of discussion
where else can we be open to express freely our thoughts
outside from a room filled only of kupunas.
today our kupuna's die in silence and now more of them is speaking out
for us, the next generations to follow as true Kupuna's.

    mahalo Ke Akua

  • Et nox facta an incomplete writing by Victor Hugo, which I believe is where Kaleo is headed. The fluffing that Ana ana (Anakele) writes are pillow stuffing.

Is Kaleo the guide for this labyrinth out of hell? What-- the British, the American, and the French seems to be the incomplete "causal root" that rises out of a bucket of shit? How does this mess from hell happen in the 21st century? The question is why does these great 'pantheon' national (state) heros of Kaleo and Ana ana (Anakele) wants an argument in the dark? Creepy! Let's get this Disney World hero worshipers argument in the can. So that, Kaleo can take it to market. Kaohi
  • Aloha Anakele:

Your words are well-stated and appreciated by many; I'm sure. You make a lot of sense and set a very pono tone to commentary. Maika'i loa ia 'oe. Your suggestions are worth implementing not only there at the beaches but in other communities. Great suggestion and I hope others out there will pick up the banner.

  • "It is obvious also that many feel Hawaiians cannot agree among themselves how therefore can they govern a Country? Again, this is a valid point in need of addressing...."

This is a sureptitious argument that everytime I hear it; I cringe. LOL... Hawaiians are like everyone else and shouldn't be demanded to argree on everything. The fatuous argument is old and the purpose is to strip the confident of the Hawaiians and validate why the White Americans have taken over. Did it ever occur to everyone that the Hawaiian society existed successfully prior to the U.S. intervention and occupation?

If one views the U.S.American actions or any other country, none of them agree 100% with each other. In the U.S.A. alone, You have the Civil War with the North and South fighting each other. Before that you have the British fighting the British colonists. Today you have the KKK fighting against the Blacks. Democrats are fighting with the Republicans. Americans are fighting over a black president and some refuse to recognize him as their president. They are fighting about the first Hispanic Judge appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. They are fighting about the bailout of Wall St. They are fighting over native American rights. There have been internal wars with abortion, stem cell, civil rights, gay marriages, extortion of financial institutions, torture, prempted wars, and the list goes on.

When the PGs (Thurston, Dole, et al.) were asked about allowing native Hawaiians and asians to vote. Their answer was emphatically, "...they are incapable of governing themselves!" What some people are doing is carrying on this mythical, nefarious argument while overlooking at what is now going on with the alleged-State and county levels. Also, if you look good; you'll see there are some Hawaiians still in government and in civil service. I'm sure they wouldn't be there if people thought they were incapable of governing. So let's not use that embarrassing foolish argument.

There was a time when Hawai'i was one of the cleanest places in the world. Since the coming of settlers from the U.S. and Asia, and the Pacific, this has altered. I've seen visitors and military discard trash on the ground and never pick it up and I've seen where locals do the same thing and our younger americanized generation do it, too. The homeless don't have garbage pick-up like the rest of the community; even those that use the beach parks; there isn't regular garbage pick-up. I've been to a tent city and find that they were very tidy. I don't think they have a community leader per se but a collective of homeless people trying to survive. I guess the American environmentalists think it should resemble "Beverly Hillbillies" mansion. People are forced to make do with what they have. So whose problem is that? It's all our kuleana. I'm still picking up other people's trash discarded on the ground when I can; and I find it all over the place; near where I live, in town, in Waikiki. It's malama ka 'aina and having pride in your place.

Kahana Valley is at the mercy of the State and DLNR. There is no funding for a visitor Center and no management plan which the DLNR has to implement. Kahana Valley residents have asked and the State has been inactive to setup what kind of guidelines the residents should follow except to maintain the grounds. Remember, this is not Waimea Valley nor set up as one or financed as one. It's a living ahupua'a. If people are looking for a commercial atmosphere, then Waimea Valley Park is the place for it. The front park grounds of Kahana is a restful place to sit and relax and even to have lunch which you will have to bring with yourself. One can go swimming at the beach across the street. I've never seen people disappointed going to Kahana Bay. I think it is the expectations of the visitor.

I've seen Kaohi down at the Capitol when legislatures are in session; I've known her to go to the homeless people and interact with them; and I've seen her bring homeless people to our gatherings at the Palace grounds. This year, I was happy to see new faces and more of our 'opio present at the Capitol. We should encourage everone to be more pro-active rather than leave it for others to do for them. It's heartwarming to see more nationals embracing who they are and standing up for themselves and their Hawaiian nation. I look forward to many more celebrating who they are and being more particpantory in all our issues when they possibly can.

July 26th, we will be celebrating traditionally our Restoration Day at Thomas Square. I hope everyone attends. I've told the Kahana Valley people to come and show their petitiion and concerns and to bring some of their produce to sell. It will be a fun day and a day of awareness. It will be from 10 am to 6 pm and I hope all will make an effort to be there to enjoy the entertainment, speeches, ceremonial protocol, amusement for children, informational booths and food sharing for the afternoon as well as good company and time to talk story. It's a good time to experience Hawaiian philosophy, culture, and values.

    My aloha to all,

    Tane
  • Anakele and the likeness---

Depleted Uranium exists!!!! In our bodies!!! Here in Waianae. As for the proper British idiot depleted Uranium exist where the sun don't shine!!! That is my point!!!!

As for the Americans that put Depleted Uranium into our bodies here in Makaha, Waianae, Maili, and Nanakuli may they take their beliefs and opinions to a black hole in the Universe.!!!! I'm being too polite here!!!!

The 'Victor Hugo's' and the likeness live in the dark with the squids, without eyes, for they are unable to see the light.

So, how does one even begin to argue about the causal root, which is built on the blind leading the blind?

Anakele put on your tutu and prance into the light and swish your tail to and fro across the stage for your performance leaves much to the desires of a sow. Philosophy 101 Kaohi
