The claims to Annexation began with U.S. President William McKinley after U.S. President Grover Cleveland Gave Hawaii Back three (3) times to Queen Liliuokalani.
Opposition to Annexation was made by Queen Liliuokalani and her 40,000 subjects.
Kilikina Kekumano found Queen Liliuokalani's Opposition to Annexation letter.
Note: the Archives in Honolulu has a tampered version with lots of changes in it.

The article also revealed that Pearl Harbor was only a Lease and was not purchased by the United States.
Additionally, the Spanish-American War began with U.S. Constitution breaker William McKinley who began the War with Spain before obtaining the approval of Congress.
President William McKinley should have been impeached for failing to follow the U.S. Constitution.
Instead he was disrupted by an assassin, and the successive Presidents maintained his illegal moves against our kanaka maoli/innocents over time.

The Hawaiian Kingdom/Kingdom of Hawaii/Ko Hawaii Pae Aina exists and never went away because Kamehameha III - Kauikeaouli's heirs and successors exists.
Kamehameha III - Kauikeaouli signed and ratified the 1850 Treaty with U.S. President Zachary Taylor.
Reference:
The parties to the Treaty included Kamehameha III's heirs and successors. His heirs and successors were all related to Kamehameha III, and Not Identity thieves Territory of the United States/Territory of Hawaii turned State of Hawaii.
The 1850 Treaty applies to the U.S. Constitution of 1787:
The U.S. Constitution pertaining to Article 6: "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land, and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding."
Note:
The Treaty of 1850 remains in-sync and active to the 1787 U.S. Constitution.
