Kubota POSTED: 01:30 a.m. HST, Jan 18, 2010 Sovereignty groups gathered on the grounds of Iolani Palace yesterday to observe the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy. Although they were united in their condemnation of the overthrow of Queen Liliuokalani 117 years ago, members of several groups held separate events. There are more than 70 native Hawaiian sovereignty groups statewide, with different people claiming to be leaders. One group sponsored entertainment on the main lawn near the bandstand. There were tense moments when another group was confronted by state conservation enforcement officers who wanted them to take down a tent near a burial mound in the Diamond Head-makai corner of the palace grounds. Tense anniversary for overthrow of Hawaiian kingdom Police officers confronted Hawaiian demonstrators who were commemorating the overthrow of the Hawaiian kingdom. [ Watch ] The situation was resolved peacefully when enforcement officers issued a citation rather than physically removing the tent. George H. Flores, 62, a member of the Hawaiian Independence Action Alliance, was cited for allegedly erecting a tent without a permit at the Iolani Palace State Monument. Flores, who was cited previously, said the tent protected food and exhibit photographs. Meanwhile, the sovereignty group Reinstated Hawaiian Government organized speeches and entertainment on the Ewa side of the grounds. Reinstated Hawaiian Government leader Henry Noa said his 5,000-member group was planning to elect officers and encouraged people to vote. Noa said some people might think the idea of reinstating the Hawaiian kingdom is far-fetched, but other countries that have been occupied by foreign powers have eventually reclaimed their sovereignty, including Poland and the Baltic nations. On Jan. 17, 1893, Queen Liliuokalani was deposed after a group of businessmen seized power and about 162 sailors and Marines from the American warship USS Boston positioned themselves near Iolani Palace. Native Hawaiian groups said the monarchy had a treaty with the United States and several other nations and that the overthrow was illegal. Some native Hawaiians point out that President Grover Cleveland asked the revolutionary government to restore the queen, but the government refused. Hawaii was annexed as part of the United States in 1898 after the election of President William McKinley, who favored annexation. • what split of events? media can't write the fact what really happen there. Its sad how people can judge so easily.
  • Aloha everyone,

Please make oneself aware of public law 95-341 which is the Freedom of Religious Act. It is American and very much so Native American and I understand that we are not Americans.

"The American Indian Religious Freedom Act of 1978 requires federal agencies to respect the customs, ceremonies, and traditions of Native American religions. This report and its recommendations are the result of a multi-agency cooperative effort with Native traditional and tribal leaders to assure that the interference and insensitivity of the past will not be repeated in future practice. Part I provides an historical treatment of the pertinent events and actions which have resulted in the protection of the religious freedom of American Indians, Aleuts, Eskimos, and Native Hawaiians. Part II contains President Carter's statement upon approval of Public Law 95-341; a summary of the establishment and activities of the Task Force to implement the Act and prepare this report to the Congress; summary statements of Task Force member agencies; and a brief record of consultation with Native traditional religious leaders, as required by the Act. Part III contains recommendations on land; on access to sacred sites and objects; and on ceremonies and traditional rites, as they relate to federal agency practice. Part IV contains a narrative treatment of other issues identified as priority concerns during consultations, with discussions advanced as concepts for subsequent federal and tribal recommendations to the Congress. Awhile back, I left Uncle Sam Lono to go to work. He was observing the stars all night and in the morning the sun rise for the new season at Koloa Park. After I left he was arrested. We did the Mokapu Ku and Hina ritual at Kaneohe Marine Base, we accessed under public law 95-341. That's what I was shouting out at the DLNR as well as 'Tutu Pele'. Pryor to the confrontation, Makanani and I placed Ku and Hina on the ahu. With that in place, the whole permitting argument was null and voided because we already performed our ritual. Agian awhile back, I asked Mau Pilug from Satowa, Chuuk if rituals was important! Both Makanani and I were schooled by Mau. I was schooled by Uncle Sam Lono as to my responsiblity to Ku and Hina.

The idiot that was in my face (peepee boy) had a thing in his ear, therefore --he was not in charge. So I was shouting out the law so that the commanding office would hear (stink ear) there American Law. I did not use Ku and Hina because this is Makahiki time and most people do not understand Ku and Hina in peace time. I used Tutu Pele and I had her picture in my hand at the time of the confrontation. Everyone thinks that Ku leaves and pushed out by Kane and than Kane is with Hina. That is not what Uncle Sam did at Kaneohe Marine Base, he clarified the relationship with Ku and Hina as one. There is a Haloa population of Ku and Hina out there! It was nice to be among the strong minds of Haloa.

How it came to be that I had her picture of her in my hand is because I was talking to Tane and I went to get it for him to see. For I had put her in my Introduction for my argument with the NRC. And, I was going to have a one on one conversation with Tane. And the incident happened, I thank you all for protecting our rituals at the ahu and my sharing of Tutu Pele with not just Tane, but with all of you.

I knew that if I had gotten arrested that all of you would have come up with bail money. For I spent most of my money on going to Hilo for my videoconference to try and 'Stop the Bombing' in Hawaii. NRC wants to give the military License to posses depleted uranium and they need a permit to conduct military excersie with DU. There is an insane permitting process for cleanup after live fire training with DU. My metphor is how the volcano erupts and spews her plumage at first and then her plume across the archipelago with the NRC. Kaohi
