Watching tonight's top stories about the Inauguration Ceremony on KITV4 wondering if I was going to see any protesting coverage but nothing.  In my mind I noted:  nothing IS something considering what

occurred today.

This morning while channel surfing, I found myself watching KITV4 Live of the Inauguration Ceremony...viewed in when the opening pule took place.  It moved me.  I found there was respect in the pule, acknowledging Kupuna & Ancestors, present & past - I felt it was very appropriate and very loving and somberly done.

When Kealoha participated I was moved again - such beautiful words being descriptive of present and past.  Another perspective from the opening pule.

I did not vote at all this year for anyone - I usually vote by absentee.  Some say that if one does not vote, then the non voter has no right to complain.  I have none to complain.  All the politicians who I thought was to be the winner did win.  My vote for or against would not have mattered.  But I do believe, who are now seated in their positions are the best candidates considering the economic state of Hawaii.

All I can do is pule for our Hawaii and I think all of us should do this "for the good of ALL concerned".  Things will get worst before it ever gets better and Ambercromie's Adminstration knows this which is why they are also asking for help or relief in the same breath.

I remember in the 70's Abercromie fought for the little guy, the kanaka also in all of us.  I want to see this same spark he had in his eyes before he initially left us to do work in Congress.  His long ties to Congress is an asset for Hawaii's relief and in my opinion we need all the relief we can get because our unemployed & underemployed is gnawing at the Dept of Human Services (DHS) offices in all divisions.  That is not good, not good at all - because if DHS fails in services or falls short in assistance due to attempts of balancing the state's budgets we will see more homeless/houseless people - GUARANTEED!

So tonight and from this day forward I encourage you all...'e pule kakou!  Pule for our people, our housing problem, our education system, our economy in general.  Pule that Abercrombie makes decisions that will benefit families of Hawaii in all aspect of their lives.

For in chieftan (leadership) circles it was a disgrace to a chief if their people suffered.  May Neil Abercrombie succeed to make changes that will be good for our people and our Hawaii.

Just my thoughts for our people of Hawaii.  Our future looks very grim from my end of the scope.  'E Pule Kakou!

  • ALOHA Kakou, e Hawaii,
Hawaii is a very Wealthy State in many ways. As Governor and with his Political Party in control of the State Legislature, Governor Abercrombie should not have no problems solving many of the problems that face Hawaii. Governor Abercrombie is surrounded with the ALOHA of his Hanai Ohana and their people.
Governor Abercrombie should not have requested that Iolani Palace be used for his Inauguration Ceremony. Being one of the Hawaiian Nationals who at the Kue today at Iolani Palace, it was a sad moment for me to watch Governor Abercrombie and the past Governors and party walk out of the front doors of Iolani Palace and walk down the steps of Iolani Palace and escorted to the Coranation Stand of King Kalakaua and Queen Kapiolani.

    • Aloha Pomai,

I did not get to see what you saw as I viewed the "Live" feed later in the ceremonial procedures. So I can only imagine how your heart was heavy. As you descriptively provided info of what you saw I feel emotionally the same way.

The Wealth is in DAGS aka: Dept of Accounting and General Services but I believe the corruption is in DAGS as well. The State owes the Federal Gov't a lot of money in fines and fees for many things in all departments of the state gov't - which is one of the reasons why I left in July 2001. I did foresee how they were going to run their offices ie: cut jobs, furloughs, etc. I wanted to get out before they start to run themselves like the State of California and be in debt.

If the dollar falls short especially with China the only main supporter of the U.S.dollar - Hawaii is doomed. All we have is minor technology, farming problems and tourism at a low with unemployment and underemployment way too high. There is no wealth - there is only hope and a prayer and why they are looking into community and nonprofits assisting because people can volunteer their time to help State Gov't lessen the cost of management. This was highlighted in the speech of our new Lieutenant Governor. Pray for Abercrombie because if anything was to happen to him to not lead, the Lieutenant Governor is still wet behind his ears to lead - my perspective.

We'll see what happens by the end of 2yrs from now. 'E Pule Kakou!
      • ALOHA Mai, e Haihe, Mahalo nui for your mana'o i'o. Where there is Light, there is Hope. Happy Holiday Days to you and your Ohana. ALOHA No, o Pomai
        • Happy Holidays to you & your 'ohana too Pomai. I really hope that the new Administration does an audit of DAGS - find out where the money is actually funneling.

Just think for bit....Greedy businessmen created the chaos and had our Kingdom occupied -I wonder if they ever created a shell account to continue to steal from the treasury of our Kingdom and it's hidden in DAGS where it is "mandated" any and all funds/monies collected goes into that big account first and then it gets disbursed to their generational sins.

Or do you think they took the money and ran and created double books? It's a scandal no matter how you look at it. I wonder sometimes....SMILE
  • NOTE: I just found out over the weekend that DHS workers in the BESS Division is now receiving OT pay. They deserve it because they are overworked and underpaid and they feed, clothe, house & provide medical care for our unemployed and underemployed people of Hawaii by approving applications. Medquest Division caseloads per worker just here on our island is 1600 per worker. Ten years ago it was 100 per worker...that's scary.
