My repsonse to him and his friends; they thought I was full of crap. You be the judge:
Why is it that U.S. Americans think they are unique in freedoms and free speech? There are other systems in the world that have that. As well as the other freedoms you expressed. You fought for the military industrial complex and corporate freedom to take resources of other countries. Your coiuntry expresses manifest destiny, racism, ethnocentrism with a paternistic attitude which is your way or the highway. Your mainstream society is WASP with those values that you expect everyone in the world to assimilate to your specific world.
I have to admit you have a wonderful constitution if its applied to all people. It was originally written for white males only; particularly and primarily for the elite who were attempting to break away from Britain. White indentured slaves did benefit from it eventually.
White women were finally given first class status in 1920 and could vote. Your black slaves were finally emancipated in 1864 but it took a hundred years for them to have equal civil rights. And they are still fighting for it in your country. You ban and resisted non-whites into your country and demonize them since your inception and still do it. Your country still uses double-standards not only with other countries but even within your own country.
You have a deeper shadow government that run your country and U.S. Americans allow it because they are conditioned to accept it and comply. Many U.S Americans get distracted economically and don't know they are being enslaved by the corporate system. What makes it more palatable is that they live within a white system with advantages for whites and can be magnanimous with their token non-whites.
U.S. covert actions have been numerous throughout its history to destabilize governments throughout the world for its pecuniary benefit and to control it. U.S. Americans don't realize that they live under a manipulative oligarchy who uses the face and propaganda of a democracy which is illusionary. That form comes in the shape of a republic and democracy an ideal. So, the U.S. maintains the illusion and the U.S. Americans comply. Activism and radicalism is frowned upon and those characteristics were what created the U.S.A. Now, that is demonized and the people are led to believe that it is "un-American".
Respect and diplomacy for other people and countries is what people should strive for and not practice the doctrines of Christian manifest destiny which are racist and covetous.
Are there any good U.S. Americans? Certainly. Are there any evil ones? Definitely. They are all human like any other people in the world. No better or more less.
In Hawai'i, we had those freedoms which we lived under and they were taken away by the U.S. Americans and forced to comply to the U.S. WASP version of freedoms because we were non-whites or a "mixed breed" which was considered an abhorrance by U.S. Americans of those days. Back then, U.S. was a country of white citizens only. White supremacists still hold that belief and that non-white "interlopers" are a bane to their society and should know their place in a white society where one has to try to look white, act, think and speak english to be more acceptable. I like to call it the "Michael Jackson Syndrome"; an imitation of life in the U.S.A.
In, Hawai'i, we, Hawaii nationals are still seeking justice and freedom. We were a free, democratic country with a constitutional monarchy quite similar to what Great Britain has, friendly and neutral nation-state recognized throughout the world. We were an aligned country with the major ones throughout the world with over 90 legations and consuls; and treaties of comity, navigation and commerce with all of them befor the U.S. belligerent invasion and occupation of our country.
Over 95% of our citizens fought against the annexation through our petitions and through our Queen. The treaty of annexation submitted by the U.S. protected republic of Hawai'i failed and rejected by not getting 2/3rds vote in U.S. Congress. Thus, Mckinley and Congress passed a joint resolution which has no jurisdiction in a foreign country to annex Hawai'i because of the American-Spanish War, naval dominance in the Pacific, and Hawai'i being an expendable outpost to protect the western shores of the U.S.A.
So, seizing Hawai'i unlawfully, was not to bring freedom and democracy to us but to liberate us from our free democratic government system for the freedom of the U.S. pecuniary purposes, white bullish power to covet whatever it wanted; and to forward its white supremacist control.
We are still waiting for the Criminal Bully U.S.A. to de-occupy our country and return it to us. If you stand for what you say; you will push for your country to return ours to us and re-instate your honor and wipe out the shame that it carries. Don't succumb to your country's propaganda, conditioning and brainwashing that you are doing this for our freedom or anyone elses; even your own. What you do is commendable if done for the right reasons.

I have a question, it's probaly a studpid one, so excuse me for asking. I been around the independence movement almost since it's inception, I admit not very concious about the whole or all of the elements. I guess you could say I was just a 'go with' . I am questioning independence and nationalism, are they both connected, equal, or, in and of itself? I enjoyed the ideals, and intentions of independence, it was a thing to get out there and do, basically to go against the US and their roles in the world. Sorry for the zig zag, I mean it was something to say or take a position when you wanted to part company with US and their disgusting actions in the world. Sort of drawing the line in the sand thing, something I wanted to do as a daily practice or mantra.
Nationalism, nationalist or nationalism that is totally different in my mind. It's more of a pride thing that one feels and behave accordingly, whereas, independence is something that one can use to distinguish between two nations and hold that line.
I'm over my post Iolani Palace three day more listening than talking behavior, however posting was a lot of mental work. But, I'm not willing to go there in partnership with anyone person(s). As to why money, ideology and scams dominated the time factor, instead of nation building--I'm a bit disappointed and so at odds with the process.
Did you read "Life is for a very long time" yet? Thanks for all your wisdom each time we are together, I will always value the talks that were not just rhetorical but often times human. In the mean time I will try to do research on my questions, maybe it's infront of my nose and I haven't taken time to read it. Kaohi
