Dear Friend, Did you know that three of Honolulu's TV stations air the same exact news? It's true: Last year, Raycom Media of Alabama struck a deal that gave it control over Honolulu’s local NBC, CBS and MyNetwork affiliates. Change the channel all you want, but KGMB, KHNL and KFVE now broadcast the same news coverage out of just one newsroom. This practice of "covert consolidation" is designed to circumvent FCC rules protecting localism, competition and diversity on the airwaves, and Hawaii residents are paying the price. At stake are newsroom jobs, access to competing voices, and adequate coverage of the issues that are important to you and your neighbors. This form of media consolidation hurts every Hawaii resident. It must be stopped now. Blow the Whistle on "Covert Consolidation" in Hawaii The Raycom deal violates the FCC's media ownership rules. Yet so far the agency — which received a formal complaint a year ago — has done nothing about it. Mahalo for reposting, need to stay on tract during the vacation period. These excutive agreements are important which should keep the governors policy makers at bay or away from the 200,000 acerage that Native Hawaiians live on--including military families.
Land transfere into fee simple and speculative for military families. It's been going on over and over in peace and war time for the US that is their economics--speculative set forth by idiots three-hundred years ago.
This monopoly is being countered by the internet which the "government" lobbyists are trying to control. Maka'ala and fight back to preserve free Press. The U.S. bureaucratic oligarchy is sending U.S. citizens back into the dark ages by keeping them ignorant of world news and the criminal actions the U.S. is committing in their names.
