Monday, March 2, 2009 Army seeks public input on valley's cultural sites The Army will be hosting a meeting to get community input regarding their views on the priority of cultural site access at the Makua Military Reservation. The meeting will take place at Nanaikapono Elementary School cafeteria, on Monday, March 9 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Currently the Army has a list that includes 116 known archaeological sites. The list is available at the Wai'anae, Kapolei and Hawai'i State public libraries. The army is planning on reviewing the current list and using the public comments to eventually draft a list of high-priority sites including the rationale for the selection of each site. This final list will be available in June. Comments can be submitted at the meeting or by mail, e-mail, and fax.
