  • Mahalo Uncle Ku. Whatever maps those would like to share we can post it here for those interested to see. Whether you scan them to your personal page or created a personal website we can link it here. Old Jeep Trails (old roadways) welcomed as those trails are first and foremost treasured roadways for kanaka. These were trails we have rights to over general public.
  • I just found you guys. I'm interested in putting footsteps on as many old trails and roads from as many old maps as possible. Huaka'i I Na 'Aina Mauna is a group of Hawaiian cultural practitioners who have been hiking Hawai'i island since 2002. Our first hike was from the ocean at Koholalele Landing at Kukaiau, following the Umikoa and the Kaula Trails to the summit of Mauna Kea, then the Skyline Trail, Old Kona Highway and Pu'uAnahulu-Kiholo Trail to the ocean at Kiholo Bay and a swim at Luahinewai. I am also active in drawing the line to slow the proliferation of astronomy observatories on Mauna Kea. I love new friends.
  • I found here some info for You. Mybe interesting for You.

  • Laie Kuleana landowners occupy their ancestral land and burial site

We need people to come this morning 4 am, all day and take a stand with us until tomorrow morning. Where? Kamehameha Highway and Cackle Fresh Store, go mauka a quarter of a mile, you will see the camp. Last night we had an irate woman by the name of Roxie Apuakehau from the Mormon church attempt to stop the posting of our fence. She grabbed the poles and tried to shake and pull it out of the ground. Earlier we picketed in front of the Laie Shopping Center near Hawaii Reserves Incorporated (HRI) the Mormon real property management company after which we chanted "HRI get off our land." Kekela Miller a Hawaiian woman, employee of HRI came and attempted to chant and choked on the words of Kupuna because she knew what HRI is doing to Kuleana landowners is HEWA. Our 'olelo and leo, our Hawaiian words and voices are so KAPU that when we speak the truth they choke on their words. HRI called in their groundkeeping staff all Pacific Islanders to intimidate us but failed while Jace McQuivey, the legal counsel for HRI hid in the office and bobbing back and forth to see what was going on. McQuivey was responsible for Kupuna's being pepper sprayed with the support as high as the Mayor Mufi Hannemann. If you look at Hannemann's history he has been supportive of any developments in Laie by the Mormon entities when he was a council member to his current position and his hopes for the governorship. This is an assault on our Hawaiian people.

  • aloha,

is there any maps of our kingdom of maui nui??? in the lahaina, makena, hana and waikapu area??? looking for old maps in the early 1800's to the middle 1900's.
i want to compare maps of the old with the new ones and sometimes maps has the ancient original owners names on it and research to see if lands on these maps was taken away or quiet titled, due to not finding the original owners.
the apology bill has made it possible to claim our lands as the original owners as being the legal heirs of our ancestors..................~da princess~

  • Ululani, Mahalo for the invite to join and for keeping me on your friends list, I've been so busy with the reinstated Hawaiian Government educational vigils, fund raisers and dealing with the courts that I haven't had much time to write anyone. We are planning a big rally on jan 17 on the palace grounds, hope to see you there, we hope to have lots of heirs of the kingdom there next jan, we'll also be holding our fourth general elections in Nov, of 2010. In the mean time I will check out this site, sorry i don't have any maps to share. Mahalo again kou hoaloha Russell
  • Hui Sharon....I sent you an email as to your question. But for those who have this same question it is first to link up to any site on the internet which have information such as this. If you have old maps in your possession and no web link to share, I can create a list of contacts for specific maps you may have if you are willing to share with people - that would be up to you because it will take time away from you if there are many inquiries. I'm looking for any old maps 1700-mid 1900's or before 1700.

Unfolding Maps of Sacred and Historical Sites of Kohala, Big Island, Hawaii

Here's a "glimpse" of some historical maps of Kohala, Big Island, Hawaii. As you view these maps, just think about how many more areas are on our islands and we are all not aware of this. Think also of areas that are not listed and are kept secret by our na kupuna until their passing it on to another generation. To stop an area of development you must be listed on all the county and state permit filing list to be made aware of what is being done in your backyard to limit outsiders from…
