U.S. President Cleveland was a friend of Queen Liliuokalani and her Hawaiian subjects.

He recognized Hawaii as an independent nation, pulled the American Flag from Hawaii, etc.

He's on record as having given back Hawaii to Queen Liliuokalani.

U.S. President McKinley was censured for his actions against Hawaii.
